Ingredients:
- 1 sheet of puff pastry
- 200g mushrooms, sliced
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 100g cheese such as Gruyere or Swiss, grated
- 2 eggs
- 200ml heavy cream
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh thyme leaves for garnish
Instructions:
Start by heating the oven up to 400F 200C
Put the puff pastry on a baking sheet that has been lined with parchment paper and roll it out
Put olive oil in a pan and heat it over medium-low heat
Add the minced garlic and cook until it smells good
Put mushrooms slices in the pan and cook them until they turn golden brown and any water has evaporated
Cover the puff pastry with the cooked mushrooms in an even layer
Add grated cheese on top of the mushrooms
Whisk the eggs and heavy cream together in a bowl
Add pepper and salt
Cover the mushrooms and cheese with the egg mix
The tart should be baked in a hot oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until it turns golden brown and sets
Take it out of the oven after its done and let it cool down a bit
Before serving, sprinkle with fresh thyme leaves
Feel free to eat the slices hot or cold
