Ingredients:
- 1 box of cake mix your choice of flavor
- 24 flat-bottom ice cream cones
- 1/2 cup 1 stick unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 2-3 tablespoons milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Mini chocolate chips or chocolate sprinkles
- Orange and black decorating gel
- Miniature candy canes optional
- Mini marshmallows optional
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the cake mix box
Prepare the cake batter according to the package instructions
Fill each ice cream cone with a couple of tablespoons of cake batter, making sure not to overfill
Place the filled ice cream cones in a muffin tin to help them stand upright
Bake in the preheated oven for the recommended time on the cake mix box, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of a cupcake comes out clean
Let the cupcakes cool completely on a wire rack
In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until creamy
Gradually add powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract, and continue to beat until you have a smooth frosting consistency
Adjust the milk as needed for desired thickness
Transfer the frosting to a piping bag fitted with a round tip or a zip-top bag with a small corner cut off
Pipe the frosting onto the cooled cupcakes to resemble a snowmans head and body
Decorate the snowman cupcakes with mini chocolate chips or chocolate sprinkles for eyes, buttons, and a mouth
Use orange decorating gel to create a carrot-shaped nose and black decorating gel for coal-like eyes and a smile
If desired, you can use miniature candy canes as arms and mini marshmallows as snowman hats, securing them with a dab of frosting
Chill the cupcakes for a short while in the refrigerator to set the frosting before serving
